As I write these words I am struck with sorrow. In my house, I have many animals, and as long as they are kept within their own areas, all is good.
But all is not good. Clyde, our columbian boa, escaped his cage. I believe it may have been either Dot or Halloween, our two kittens, who may have collapsed his terrariums top. When I first came into the computer room, near where the majority of caged creatures are kept, I didn't know anything had happened.
Fear...
I suspected that one of the kittens would be hurt when I saw the tail of Clyde hiding behind the curtain, I immediately called for mom. I told her that Clyde had escaped and I tried getting the animals out of the area. My mom gathered Clyde up and was holding him, while she was doing this I kept a vigil for any of the unsuspecting pets that may wander in. Then I saw him...
Death...
Tony, one of our red-eyed-white ferrets, was lying in the cage. Not moving. Not breathing. HIs face was covered in blood, his body limp. My mom gathered Tony and put Clyde back into the terrarium. As I secured the lid my mom tried reviving Tony, but I knew in my heart that he was already gone.
Goodbye Tony, We will see you in Summer Land at the Rainbow Bridge. Goodbye Clyde, we can't hurt you because you only acted by instinct, but we can't keep you here.
