Ok, here I am a month and a half after my hard drive failed, and I'm trying to go to the eight to see what I missed, but all the links I find to the eight get a 404 message. Is this just a symptom of the summer break your taking? Will The eight be back at the same url?

Steve has explained in another subject that his "index " page does not want to show up. And he has no idea how to make it work.... Can some expert help him??
Of course, summer usually slow things down. It did for me anyway...But i'm back too.

If you type www.steverequin.com/theeight.html instead of www.steverequin.com/theeightyou get an old version of the page. Steve, can you check if you do not have 2 version of the index page, one with html at the end and one with index or just nothing at the end. I'm sure the server must be confused with something because all the other pages show up.

his "main page" for the Eight points to "http://www.steverequin.com/theeight" now I'm no internet guru but last time I looked, when you name a folder and your "index.html" page the same on apache or ISS you're into a world of pain... having the same name, the call reverts to the highest order, which happens to be a folder, to which access is blocked if you've done your homework. ( plenty of cases where you can browse the Family Archive (or loads of free pr0n if you're into that), because people forgot to restrict folder view in Apache....)) So the 404 is actually not an error, but things Working As They Should, abd all steve needs to do is properly type his hyperlinks

It should throw a 403 if access is denied, although occasionally people give a 404 to create the illusion that that part of the Web site doesn't exist (doubting Steve did that). Steve's description of the problem sort of rules that out, anyway. NB: 'http://www.steverequin.com/theeight/index.htm(l)' doesn't work [just for completeness].

I guess we'll have to wait till Steve answer back, when he's in town in a few days... Otherwise there's not much we can do...
